V.G.Salter worked at several of the stations along the Derwent Valley Line.
He started at Russell (now known as Westerway) in 1918 as a "Learner Messenger" and worked his way up to return there as a Stationmaster grade IV in 1945. He was also a Porter at Macquarie Plains and Station Master at Fitzgerald.
